Togethr

Frequently Asked Questions

What payment methods are supported?

Payments are accepted using credit card, Bitcoin, Interac e-Transfer, or by mail. For credit card payments, please ensure that your credit card supports international transactions as we are located in Canada.

Can I really take my data with me?

Yes! Togethr instances are just like self-hosting, but on a server that only runs the app you need and has staff to take care of the boring stuff. Full database + media snapshots are yours when you need them. Your domain name is yours too. Just ask support if you want anything transferred to you and we will make it happen.

How can I get help with my instance?

The best venue for help with using or developing features for Togethr is in the chatroom for our umbrella project Soprani.ca, which you can join from your chat client, on the web, or from Matrix. It is an active and enthusiastic channel, and the fastest way to solve problems with the developers or other users.

For direct or private support inquiries, contact us directly by ActivityPub (DM or Chat), Jabber, Email, or Matrix and we will get back to you within 8 business hours (that is, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 EST, excepting holidays).

How can I invite more users to my instance?

Look for the "Admin settings" or "Admin FE" links when you are logged in to your instance with your admin account. Log in there with your credentials, select "Invites", and you can generate invite links or invite users directly by email.

What are the limits on my instance?

The only enforced limit on your instance is that it comes with 1GB storage. If you find you need more storage, contact support and it is available at a cost of $0.30 per GB per month.

That said, if you find your community is growing very large and performance problems are becoming apparent, support can work with you to find a custom set of specs that will meet your needs. Or we can help you migrate to another host if you prefer at that time.

How do I find people to follow?

If you don't already know many people in the fediverse and want to discover some posting about certain topics you can check out these lists.

I prefer the Mastodon look and feel

That's not a question, but if you visit /web on your instance you will see a UI that is just like Mastodon. You can also install and use any Pleroma-compatible frontend you like from your admin settings.
